Shape the Future of EO in Colorado: Participate in a Research Study

Are you an employee-owner in Colorado? Your experience matters! I am conducting a research study to explore how employee ownership (EO) affects workers’ financial well-being, job security, and future opportunities. This research will provide crucial insights to optimize state investments in EO programs and drive policy changes that make shared ownership more accessible.

Why This Research Matters

Colorado is at a pivotal moment, with thousands of business owners set to retire in the next decade. Many of these businesses face closure or sale to private equity, but EO presents a powerful alternative that keeps jobs local and builds worker wealth. While research has shown EO improves business outcomes and job satisfaction, we still lack Colorado-specific data that centers on workers’ voices.

This study aims to:

  • Understand how EO affects financial security and career prospects.

  • Identify the company dynamics that support or hinder worker’s financial security.

  • Explore barriers to EO adoption and how to make it more accessible.

Who Can Participate?

I am looking for employee-owners working in Colorado-based EO companies, including worker cooperatives, ESOPs, and companies that have alternative equity models, as defined by the state of Colorado. Participation is open to individuals of all backgrounds, with a focus on understanding diverse experiences.

What Participation Involves

Participants will be asked to take part in a confidential interview (30–60 minutes) about their experiences with EO.

All participation is confidential and voluntary, with privacy and ethical research practices prioritized.

More details about the study can be found here.

How to Get Involved

If you are interested in sharing your experiences or want to learn more, fill out the participant interest form. We’re recruiting through March 2025.

Your voice can help shape policies that support workers, increase economic mobility, and expand the impact of employee ownership. Thank you for considering participation in this important research!
